Oliver Theodore Neumann, 99, of Conroe, Texas passed away November 26, 2021 peacefully in his home with family.
Oliver was born August 28, 1922 to Edward and Adelaide Neumann, the seventh of eight children, in Jersey City, New Jersey. He served in the U.S. Naval Service from 1943 to 1945 and was deployed to the Asiatic-Pacific during World War II. He received Purple Heart, American Defense, Philippine Liberation, Asiatic-Pacific, and Victory-World War II medals for his service on the USS Dupage.
After being honorably discharged, he worked for the Central Railroad of New Jersey. He married Margaret Sweeney of Jersey City in Richmond, Virginia in 1945, and went on to have a daughter, Patricia.
He later worked as a diesel mechanic for the New Jersey Public Service Transportation Company (now New Jersey Transit).
He retired in 1987 and spent his time traveling, fixing and building things around his house, and helping raise his four grandchildren. In April of 1992, his wife passed away, and afterwards he moved to Tucson, Arizona. He then married Velma Neumann, and they lived together in Tucson for 20 years while continuing to travel.
In 2017, he moved to Conroe where he lived with his daughter until his last days. Oliver was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Chapter Post 4709 Conroe, Texas.
He is predeceased by his wife Margaret and his second wife Velma. He is survived by his daughter Patricia; four grandchildren: Jennifer, Sean, Kevin, and David; and seven great grandchildren: Jacob, Adele, Eva, Mary, Matthew, Samuel, and Eliza Jane.
Calling hours will be December 8 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home, Magnolia-The Woodlands, 14711 FM 1488 Magnolia, Texas. The Rite of Christian Burial will be held at Presentation of the Lord Catholic Church, 5530 Honea Egypt Rd, Montgomery on December 9 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Veterans of Foreign Wars .
