Obituary

Nova Lee Wooten, known to all who love her as Nonie, went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2022.  Born in EL Paso, Texas on June 2, 1963, to Glen and Loretta Mckey the family eventually found a home in Lufkin, Texas where she grew up and lived until moving to Houston in 2001.  Her happiest moments were when her two daughters Sarah and Lauren were born.  They were the source of her joy and all she ever wanted to be a was a mother. She married the love of her life William Wooten II in 2002 and they were married for 20 years and 6 days.   In 2018 she also added the name Gigi when her 3 granddaughters were born and again in 2020 when her grandson was born.

In addition to her love of people and family, Nonie loved being near the ocean, dancing, singing, and card making.  Having a wonderful sense of humor, she always faced even the most challenging times with a smile on her face and praise for her savior. Her family came first in every thought, and she opened her home to several "adopted" daughters among Sarah and Lauren's friends.  To them, she was Mamma Bear or just Mamma.  She loved cardmaking and crafts with her mother and mother-in-love Brenda who proceeded her in death.

She is survived by her husband William, daughter Sarah Rayburn (Dakota), Daughter Lauren Oakley (James); four grandchildren: Claire, Audrey, Teagan, and Shane Oakley; her mother Loretta Mckey, her father, and her two sisters.  Additionally, she is survived by her father-in-love, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, along with several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests making donations to the Missions fund at Cypress Creek Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 am on February 19, 2022, at Cypress Creek Baptist Church Cypress, Texas.
