Norman Eugene Graham, M.D.

Norman Eugene Graham, M.D. "Doc Graham" of Tomball, Texas passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on September 3rd, 2020.

Born April 1st, 1924 in Toronto, South Dakota during a blizzard. He was the second of three sons born to Harold and Ada (Erickson) Graham. In 1934 his family moved to Miller, South Dakota where he graduated from high school, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Dr. Graham went on to study at the University of South Dakota on an athletic scholarship. After two years he enlisted in the United States Army Medical Corps. He graduated from the University of South Dakota in the summer of 1943 and then from Temple University Medical School in 1947.

Dr. Graham was commissioned as a Lieutenant (Junior Grade) in the United States Naval Reserve Medical Corps and served until December 11th, 1953. He then transferred to the Army as a Captain on August 6th, 1954 and continued service until July 2nd, 1957. He chose Texas as his final duty station for a change of climate because the North was too cold for him.

In 1948, Dr. Graham moved to Rockport, Texas and opened the McEvelyeen/Graham Clinic. On July 1, 1951 Dr. Graham moved to Tomball and opened the 16 bed hospital that had been closed due to a lack of physicians. During his early years in Tomball, Dr. Graham served double duty running the ambulance service and serving as Deputy Medical Examiner. He did all this while serving as a Navy Reserve Medical Officer traveling to nearby Navy Reserve Stations to treat military service members. Dr. Graham sold the hospital in Tomball to Hospital Affiliates in 1970 and stayed on to help build it into a 300 bed facility.

Through the years Dr. Graham served as Chief of Staff at Tomball Hospital, as a Deputy Harris County Medical Examiner for Northwest Harris County, FAA Medical Examiner and served on the Tomball Independent School Board. He has been credited with establishing a tradition of quality health care that was instrumental to Tomball's growth.

Dr. Graham married Kathy Bernard in 1950 and they were blessed with five children, Norman Jr, Kay, Karen, Karla and Kevin. They separated and he met and married Priscilla Martin who had three children, Douglas, Becky and Rex.

In 1980, Dr. Graham married his beloved wife, Donna Engquist Hajosy, who preceded him on November 24, 2011. Donna had three children; Teresa, Ralph, and Rebecca. Donna and Norman were blessed with four children together, Leif Ericson, Bonny Betsy-Ross, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson "Tex".

Dr. Graham was very happy to have been able to practice family medicine and surgery for the last 69 years in Tomball. He loved the people of Tomball and the surrounding area. His dedication to heal and be a comfort to those who were sick and in need was unwavering. He asked Jesus into his heart and thanked him for forgiving his many sins, and looked forward to Heaven, where he will join his many old patients and friends. Dr. Graham's wish was that his death would be celebrated with joy and thanksgiving for the many blessed years he had here on Earth.

He is survived by many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and wanted to extend God's many blessings to all of them.

Our family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Leif Graham for his selfless dedication and enduring commitment to our father over the last nine years.
