Norma Lee Wofford Gibbs, age 95, passed away August 4, 2026. She was born December 11, 1930 in Odessa, Texas to Ota Lee and J. N. Wofford. Norma grew up in Houston, attended Houston public schools, and graduated from Lamar High School in 1949. She majored in Foods and Nutrition at The University of Houston, earning a BS degree in 1952. Before her marriage, she worked for Houston Lighting and Power as a Home Demonstration Agent.
Norma married Fred Ernest Gibbs on November 9, 1957 at South Main Baptist Church. During their 63-year marriage, they made their homes in Midland, Texas, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Houston, where they were long-time members and workers in Champions Forest Baptist Church. Fred predeceased her in 2021.
Norma is survived by daughter Janet and son-in-law Michael TerLouw, son Steven and daughter-in-law Jacqueline Gibbs, four granddaughters: Michelle and Matt Hurtado, Jennifer and J Ehlinger, Haley and Daniel Manusis, Emma Gibbs and great-grandson Lucas Hurtado. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Doris and Bill Newman.
A celebration of Norma's life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 W. Main, Tomball, TX 77375. Burial to follow at Klein Memorial Park (249).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Champions Forest Baptist Church or Houston Food Bank.
