Norbert Arnold Schulze, at the age of 90 years, was called to his Heavenly home on January 22, 2023.

Norbert was born March 20, 1932, in Serbin (Lee County). He was the son of Benhard Paul Schulze & Mathilda (Reinhardt) Schulze. He was baptized on March 27, 1932, by Rev. Herman Schmidt at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin. His baptismal verse was Mark 10:14: "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Norbert attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin and was confirmed on March 25, 1945, by Rev. Herman Schmidt. His confirmation verse was Matthew 26:41: "Watch and pray so you do not fall into temptation the spirit is willing, but the body is weak."

On April 12,1953, he married Helen Ruth Noack at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor, Texas, by Rev. I. Karcher. Norbert served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from April 21, 1953, to April 22, 1955. Norbert was a tool maker for 34 years at Cameron Iron Works. After retirement in 1989, he served seven years of volunteer work at St. Mark's Concordia Lutheran Church as an usher and elder, and he served on the finance committee. They later sold their Houston home and moved to Lake Livingston in the Point Blank neighborhood.

Norbert loved to fish and was very successful at it. So many people loved all the great fish fries and Norbert and Helen loved having people over for them. They also served with the Braille Group for their church Trinity Lutheran in Livingston that was a mission they greatly loved which gave the Bible to people with no sight. Many fish fries were given for all of the members as well.

Norbert is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen Ruth; three of his four children, Ron Schulze (Donna), Glenda Roesner (Richard), and Darrell Schulze (Sarah); grandchildren: Candice Hallum (Hudson), Karla Saldivar (Alex), Pastor Mark Schulze (Kresha), Brittany Shryock (Brett), and Nette Miller (Kyle); great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Connor & Victoria Hallum, Atticus and Aspen Miller, Penelope Saldivar, Phoebe, Eoin, Phineas and Astrid Schulze, and Oakley Shryock; and three sisters: Lillian Naskrent, Sidonia Hardie , and Leona Panas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sylvia; one brother, Wilbert; three brothers-in-law, Paul Naskrent, Bud Panas, and Arnold Krause; and his sister Ruby Krause.

The family would like to thank everyone who helped so much with support, visits, and prayers to and for Norbert and Helen: Marissa Leon, the care giver that did all she could to cook him what he wanted and make him smile; Richard and Glenda for opening their home to them; Sidonia Hardie for countless visits and last minute fill-ins for help, and she would sneak in treats or whatever she could to make him smile; and Philip and Glenda Wendt for their kindness allowing him a few last chances to catch some catfish.

Our hearts are saddened by our loss, but we know he is with our Lord and Savior, as well being reunited with all that preceded him. If there is a lake in Heaven, we know for sure he is checking it out. Thank you all for your prayers and support. God bless you!

Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 27, at Zion Lutheran Church, 907 Hicks Street, Tomball, TX 77375 followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. Serving as Pallbearers will be Hudson Hallum, Jeremy Kolek, Basil Panas, Walter Roesner, Pastor Mark Schulze, Brett Shryock, and Walter Siebold. Following a reception at the church, a graveside committal service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Tomball.
