Nita Jean Schulze Craft, born October 27, 1939, died on April 7, 2020.

Nita was born in El Campo, Texas to Leonard and Gertrude Schulze. The daughter of an oil field worker she moved around Southeast Texas until finally coming back to El Campo where she graduated high school. She was an only child but grew up with numerous cousins that she remained close to in both the Schulze and Luedecke families. Her father valued education so she enrolled in Wharton County Junior College after high-school. During the Fall semester, she celebrated her 18th birthday, concluded her college career and moved to the big city of Houston, Texas.

It was in Houston where she met her husband, James Milton Craft, and they married May 24, 1959. Milton and Nita began their married life in Corpus Christi, Texas. The sparkling city by the sea is where their 4 children were born. In 1978, the family moved to Spring, Texas.

Nita devoted her life to her family. She was the room mother, PTA President, team mom, Scout leader and much more. If her children were involved in an activity, Nita was too. She was 100% present in her family's life. Her children never doubted her love or devotion for them.

She continued that dedication with her grandchildren's activities.

The grandchildren starting coming…and coming…11 total! Oh, how she loved her grandchildren. Each and every one felt her special love for them. And then the greats – already 5! She was blessed and she would happily tell you so.

One of her passions was reading, which lead to her desire to write a book. She joined Romance Writer's of America, even served a term as President. Great friendships were formed and a few books resulted. Anyone have publisher connections?

Life wasn't all rosy but Nita was a fighter. Melanoma in the 80s. Inflammatory Breast Cancer in the early 90s. She was not given much hope but she proved them wrong. Her most recent battle, ovarian cancer. This would be a tough one, but so was she. She was doing great, feeling upbeat. She was determined to beat this. Her heart didn't get that memo, but her love will carry on.

This lovely woman, a wife, a mom, a Granna, a Noni and a friend- she will be missed. To say she had spunk would be an understatement. Throw in a little sass, that twinkle in her eye and you have Nita. A filter would have been nice but what's the fun in that. She was funny without that always being her intention, she was strong, she was pure and she was love.

Nita Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Andrew Schulze and Gertrude Ada Luedecke Schulze, her brother Michael Schulze and her son, Michael Lawrence Craft. Nita is survived by her husband of 60 years, James Milton Craft, and her three children and their families. Melissa and Steve Schmid. Emily and Audrey; Melody and Kendall Ashmore, Erik and Emile Faye, Kyle and Jordyn, and Rachel; Mark and Kelley Craft, Bethany and Quade Edge and Basil, Lindsey and Travis, Robert and Mariah Craft and Michael James, Rebekah and Tyler Long, Keegan, Olivia and Parker and Ryan; her beloved Aunt Irene, all those Moodys she loved so well and her many friends.

Due to the pandemic, the family will be holding a private ceremony and burial. Nita loved a good party and didn't shy away from being the center of attention. When our world returns to normal, her family will properly celebrate her. Stay tuned.
