Obituary

Nicholas Carl Sirchia, 98, passed away on May 8, 2021. He was born on October 29, 1922, and graduated from Lincoln High School, in Los Angeles, California in 1942. Shortly after graduating high school, Nick enlisted in the U.S. Navy. His specialty in the Navy was Aviation Machinist's Mate, working on World War II PBY aircraft. He served positions in San Diego and Salton Sea, California and Corpus Christi, Texas. Following his discharge in 1946, Nick returned to Los Angeles and began working in his trade as a shoe repairman. In 1947, he opened his first shoe repair shop and successfully ran the business for 45 years until his retirement in 1992.

Shortly after returning from the Navy, Nick met his future wife Frances Dorothy Romano and the two married on January 18, 1948 in San Gabriel, California. Nick was a great family man and together with Fran, they raised three children, Joe, Don, and Rosemarie.

Following his retirement, Nick and Fran moved to The Woodlands, Texas to be closer to their children and four grandchildren. Nick had a passion for the outdoors, which included hunting, shooting, fishing, and camping. He also thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to baseball games and his beloved Dallas Cowboys.

Nick was a very genuine person that believed in the virtues of being reliable, trustworthy, honest, and straight forward. He instilled these virtues solidly into his children and family. He was definitely the salt of the earth.

Nick was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Dorothy Romano Sirchia. He is survived by his daughter Rosemarie (Tom) Torti of Tomball, Texas; sons, Joe (Terry) Sirchia of Laughlin, Nevada and Don (Phyllis) Sirchia of Spring, Texas; grandchildren Erika Sirchia, Bill (Liz) Torti, Kevin (Taylor) Sirchia, and Christine (Josh) Marin; and great grandchildren Hailey and Avery Sirchia and Graham and Asa Torti.

A mass in memory of Nicholas Sirchia will begin at 1:30 p.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church and will be immediately followed by a committal service at Klein Memorial Park in Tomball, Texas.
