Nicholas (Nick) Tad Hansen passed away on June 21, 2018, in Gainesville, Florida just days from his 33rd birthday. He was born on June 24, 1985, in Tulsa, Oklahoma and moved with his family to Houston in 1989. He was the youngest of the five children of David and Lisa Hansen and grew up in the Copperfield area in northwest Houston. Nick graduated from Langham Creek High School where he was a member of the varsity soccer and cross country teams. A natural musician and vocalist he was self taught on the drums and guitar. In 2005 Nick was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Despite multiple surgeries and chemotherapy he was left with chronic and recurring health issues that he continued to battle until his passing.
Nick graduated with a BS in Communications and Public Relations from Utah Valley University. His passion for soccer led him to work for Real Salt Lake and the Houston Dynamo in a sales and marketing role. Prior to moving to Florida he was a licensed real estate agent in northwest Houston and just started a new job in sales and marketing for a Gainesville software start-up company.
Nick was a bright, happy and outgoing person. Along with his musical and athletic abilities he was a natural salesman and was gifted with a casual approach and a way with words that drew people to him. He was easy to like and a good friend. He loved to play jokes and always had a quick witted remark for any situation.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various volunteer roles within the church. Nick had a great love for Big Brothers and Big Sister and served as a big brother on multiple occasions while in Houston.
He is survived by his parents, Dave and Lisa Hansen (Houston), and his siblings, Shane Hansen (New York City), Jared and Stacey (Simms) Hansen (Houston), Quinn and Lucia (Fernandes) Hansen (Gainesville, FL) and Jessica Faith Hansen and Glenn Stewart (Houston). He loved and had great fun with his nieces and nephews; Maya, Wyatt, Sienna, Drew, Olivia & Scarlett. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by all.
Funeral services for Nicholas Tad Hansen will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 16203 Longenbaugh Dr., Houston, TX 77095 at 11:00am on Thursday, June 28th. Interment will be at the Klein Memorial Park Cemetery, 14711 Cypress North Houston Rd., Cypress, TX 77429.
