Nicholas Frank Comardo was born February 2, 1947 at St. Joesph's Hospital here in Houston.  He attended Christ the King elementary school and St. Pius X High School graduating in 1968.
Nick went to the University of Houston to study Electrical Engineering, but was drafted out of college during the Vietnam conflict.  He served in the army as a missile crewman where he obtained a NATO clearance while stationed in Vicenza, Italy.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and an M-16 Sharpshooter medal during this time in the service and reached the rank of Specialist E-4.
While attending the University of Houston before being drafted he had a chance encounter where he met and later married the one and only love of his life Nancy.  After 10 years of marriage the second one and only love of his life was born Laura Michelle.
Nick excelled as a husband and a father immersing himself in every aspect of Nancy & Laura's lives.  He was a hands on father and husband who you always went to first for advice and help.
He went to work for Houston Lighting and Power Company in substation maintenance when he returned from the service and retired in 2001 after 33 years on the job.  During this time he wanted to provide more for his family so he started his own business called N/C Air Conditioning and Heating Service installing and servicing units for a large number of customers in his spare time.
Nick was a problem solver and a Mr. Fix It.  He was a carpenter, electrician, plumber, painter, and gardener all rolled into one.  Nick was generous with his time and talents to all his friends and neighbors.  His first love was his family wanting them to succeeded in life.  He was a teacher, a counselor, and a stubborn Italian who made sure you understood the right way to do things.  He taught both grandchildren Gabby and Niko how to drive and opened their first bank accounts encouraging them to work and save for the future.
Nick was passionate about most everything especially his love of the outdoors and hunting.  Going with his friends on out of state hunting trips or hunting here in Texas and sharing stories around the campfire at the deer lease were the highlights of his life.
His love of building things and working with wood led him to his taking up carpentry and wood turning.  He created beautiful hand crafted items for family and friends.  Not satisfied with small items he built bedroom suits, bathroom vanities, and stereo cabinets.  He was happiest when working in his shop.
Nick's death has left a void that cannot be filled, but his guidance and love of family will endure forever.
