Newell Ray Goodson passed away on July 9, 2020. Newell was born to Mary Marie and Wallace Ray Goodson in Houston, Texas on December 29, 1953. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, Frank Wesley. He is survived by his wife Sandra, his children, Meghan Goodson Flores, Courtney Ray Goodson, Kyle Goodson, Marshal Goodson, Alyssa Perry, and Molly Perry, his stepchildren Liz Perry, Carl Perry, and Jessie Perry, his grandchildren, Rowen, George, and Maxwell, and countless friends and family.

Newell spent his  35+ year career helping to provide electricity to the city of Houston with Centerpoint Energy.  He was dedicated to service and his community through Sunshine Kids and Holiday Lakes Volunteer Fire Department. He especially loved his involvement in youth football, spending over 20 years In the activity as a parent, coach, teacher, administrator, and director; he loved football but he loved getting to be a coach and teacher for young men and women even more.

When he wasn't found on the field, he could be found tinkering in his garage, and fixing things for his friends and family. He loved a good project but had a special passion for helping a friend or loved one.

He was a big guy with a big personality and a great big laugh that we will miss dearly.
