Nelson Bert Wohlgehagen went home to be with the Lord on August 8th 2021 after a long battle with dementia and renal failure. He was welcomed into Heaven with open arms by his mother and father, John and Marjorie Wohlgehagen, who preceded him in death.
Nelson will be remembered for the free spirit that he was, his sense of humor, and the love he had for family, friends, and the country that he served. Nelson grew up in Waterford, MI on Lotus Lake. He enjoyed swimming, boating, water skiing, and fishing in the summers and sledding and ice skating in the winters. He moved while in high school and graduated from Farmington High School. After graduation he joined the army and was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne and graduated from both Pathfinder and Ranger Schools. He served in Vietnam and the Army Reserves. He met Diane Kampsen while in high school and they were married after he returned from the service. He worked in the heating and cooling business in Detroit and continued in that professional after he and Diane moved to Texas.
Nelson is survived by his wife, Diane Sue Kampson; Sister, Jean Johnson; Brother, Jim Wohlgehagen and wife Kathy; God-Daughters, Christy Wynn and Cheryl Nichols; Nieces, Anna Marie Wohlgehagen; Monica Caryn Pescarino; Nephews, Eric Dale Wohlgehagen, Jason John Wohlgehagen, Chad Leslie Wohlgehagen, Michael Erik Johnson
