Obituary

Nedra Jean Greif was born on 15 Dec 1955 in Loraine, TX. She passed from this life on 7 January 2022. She had the most colorful spirit and was an amazing person with so many talents. It seemed that there was never a project too big for her to tackle. She was a plumber, carpenter, bush hog master, seamstress and an expert with a crochet needle. It is no surprise that the Lord blessed her with her artistic talent, which she in turn shared with so many people.

She was a housewife and mother for many years but in her early 30's decided she wanted to go back to school to become a school teacher. She had the full time job of being a housewife, caretaker, chauffeur, student and so many other things. She graduated from Texas A&I Kingsville and received her teaching degree with a minor in art. She did her student teaching and also did substitute teaching in Kingsville, TX. She then moved to McAllen, TX with her husband Danny in 1996. She continued substitute teaching there but in 2001 decided to stay home in order to care for Danny.

After Danny's retirement in 2011, they moved to Jasper, TX to be closer to their daughter and family. She became a well sought after artist and painted memorial paintings for many people who had lost loved ones. She has always been an extremely giving person and would never take a penny from anyone for her paintings because it was a labor of love. She will always be remembered for her eccentric, fun loving and crazy ways. She befriended everyone and never knew a stranger. Just about all of the Walmart employees in Jasper, TX knew her by her first name. She was known to love and adore her many cats. Her family will fondly remember her great love for desserts for after breakfast, lunch and dinner, which she has passed on to her daughter and many nieces. She had an antique china display cabinet posing as a candy store shop for all to enjoy. She definitely kept life interesting and there was never a dull moment with her in your life. She will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives she touched. There was truly no one like her.

Nedra was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Dan F. Greif; parents Mary and Frank Doggett. She is survived by her daughter Misty Willis and husband Jonathan; Grandsons, Lawrence and Wesley Willis; Sisters Becky Greif (Dennis), Sharon Rawlins (Phil), Mechelle Reyes (Santana); Brother Alford Doggett (Kathy) and numerous nieces and nephews.
