Obituary

Nancy Pearl Pickard McGlashen passed away on October 18, 2022.  She was 87 years old. She is survived by her children Brian, Pamela, Marshall & wife Anna McGlashen, Holly & husband Todd Davis, and Claire Cusack McGlashen.  Her grandchildren Reed & Jessica Hatley, Tyler & Dominque McGlashen, Jackson McGlashen, Emilie Davis, Caroline Davis, Brooke Davis, Robin LaBorde and Scott L'Hoste.  Great- grandchildren Harper and Knox Hatley.  Her prior husband and her children's father, Daryl McGlashen.   Her dear friend and sister by choice Adell Stanley, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her two beloved sons Timothy and William, her sisters Kathy and Betsy and  her parents Durwood and Katherine Pickard.

She was born in Pontiac, Michigan on June 21, 1935. Her family soon moved to Lapeer, Michigan where she was raised. She was a graduate of Lapeer High School where she was a cheerleader and sang in the choir.  Prior to moving to Houston, Texas, she lived in Riverside, California and Chicago, Illinois.

Nancy was a special education school bus driver for Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District for many years.   She loved all her kids and kept these relationships for life.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed every minute of the time she spent with them.  She was an avid sports fan and was one of the loudest ones in the stands for her children and grandchildren. She loved the Houston Astros and her wish was to see them win the World Series.

She was a dear friend to many and never knew a stranger. Everyone loved her big hugs and her smile lit up a room. She always had a kind word for anyone.

Nancy was first diagnosed with breast cancer 30 years ago. She was a proud survivor and loved meeting and inspiring anyone she encountered.

The family would like to thank the staff of Cypress Pointe Wellness Center, especially Ryan, and the nurses of Vantage Hospice. The love and care they provided our mother will never leave our hearts.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 2pm.  Klein Funeral Home 9719 Wortham Blvd. Houston Texas 77065.  Nancy's wish was for everyone to wear her favorite color pink.
