Nancy Jo Olson, 35, of Houston passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2019.
Nancy was born on January 2, 1984, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Daniel J. Olson and Susan Riper Olson. She lived in several cities, including Tulsa, Denver, Midland, and Bakersfield, before arriving in Houston in 1994. Nancy was a talented poet and writer. Her essay on the challenges of being a teenager with bipolar depression won first place from the Women's Fund for Health and Research in 1997. She graduated from Cypress Creek High School in 2002.
Nancy's favorite job was as a Starbucks barista, where she developed her lifelong love of all things Starbucks. She would happily work the early morning shift and was a friendly voice to customers at the drive thru.
Nancy simply loved being with people, and treasured the fellowship and strong friendships she formed at Champions AA, the Woodlands NA, and Oxford House Houston. Despite her own struggles, Nancy jumped at the chance to support a friend in need.
Nancy loved her family and friends, cats, and long drives listening to music. A favorite activity was going to Rockets games with her dad.
In lieu of flowers, donations to re:Mind Depression and Bipolar Support, www.remindsupport.org would be greatly appreciated.
