Nancy Irene Flannigan, 70, passed away on July 13, 2018, at Kindred Hospital in Tomball, Texas after battling kidney failure for over a decade. Her final days were spent with family by her side.
Nancy was born on November 4, 1947, in Houston, Texas, to Bill and Dot Crawford.
She attended Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston, Texas. She continued her education at Houston's San Jacinto College, graduating in 1968 with an Associate of Arts degree.
Nancy had two children, Steven Shawnacey and Patrick Ian, with her former husband, Steve Flannigan. The family lived in New Jersey from 1968 to 1971 and then returned to Texas and lived in Austin and Houston. Later, Nancy lived in Trinity and most recently in Magnolia. In addition, Nancy considered Ireland to be her second home until she could no longer travel due to her health. She loved to visit and spend time at Withywindle, the family's house in Kenmare, County Kerry.
Her interests included family, cooking, reading, gardening and travelling. She devoted much of her time and energy to her grandchildren. She spent countless hours at the baseball field and soccer field even after she was confined to a wheelchair. She also loved animals and over the years had dogs, Shamrock, Kinsey and Casey and cats, E.T., Shamus, Rascal, Scooter and Shadow.
Nancy was known and loved for her generous nature and her ability to make people feel special. Her outgoing personality drew people to her and her sense of humor was one of her most endearing qualities. She will be missed by many and remembered by all who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her companion of 26 years, Pat Walker; son Shawn Flannigan and wife Lisa of Magnolia, Texas; and daughter-in-law Janine Flannigan of Golden, Colorado. Her greatest loves were her grandchildren, Connor, Colton, Chloe and Jacob.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Dot Crawford; her brother, Zayne Crawford; her uncle and aunt, Pat and Nancy Flannigan; and son, Patrick Flannigan.
At her request, Nancy will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held in Magnolia, Texas at a later date. Details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy's honor to Donate Life Texas. Nancy received a kidney transplant in 2005. She often said it was the greatest gift because it allowed her time to spend with her grandchildren.
