Obituary

Nancy Martin Delzell Mason, aged 78, passed away on December 30, 2024. Born on April 10, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she was the beloved daughter of the late Wendell Martin Delzell and Helen Louise Larimer Delzell. Nancy was formerly a resident of Magnolia, where she spent many cherished years.

Nancy is survived by her husband Jack of Deer Park, TX; daughter Lisa Vitovsky (John) of Pasadena, TX; brother Larry Delzell of Plano, TX; and Grandchildren Victoria, Nate, Abigail, and Elijah Vitovsky.

Including her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Amy Williams, formerly of Houston, TX, and sister Linda Smalley, formerly of La Grange, TX.

Together with her husband Jack, Nancy raised her two girls in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She dedicated her career to education and shared that passion with her daughter, Amy. She held degrees in Deaf Education from Trinity University and Special Education from Texas Tech University. Her career was spent as a diagnostician in both Albuquerque, New Mexico, and in Tomball, Texas, where she worked prior to her retirement in 2010.

Nancy lived a life of passion, whether it was for her family and friends or in preserving memories for herself and others as a long-time Creative Memories consultant. During her 50-year marriage to her husband Jack, they had some unique hobbies such as breeding and showing miniature dachshunds and raising exotic birds.  Upon moving to the Houston area in 1996, Nancy became an avid Houston Astros fan and enjoyed watching them on television with Jack. Nancy loved tradition, from the annual mother-daughter baking day, to tamales on Christmas Eve.

It was often said of Nancy from her family and friends that she would do anything for anyone, and that was true. She was always her daughters' biggest fan and advocate and was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
