Nan Hische Pye

1932 -2017

Nan Hische Pye, age 85, died December 29, 2017 in Houston, Texas. Nan was born on September 14, 1932 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Her family later moved to Galveston where she graduated from Ball High School in 1949. At the age of 18, she married Ebb Pye. They lived in Houston where they raised 4 children.

In addition to her love for family and friends, Nan loved spending time at their house on Bolivar Peninsula where they hosted an annual Oysterfest. Other great loves included watching Aggie football, playing tennis in various tennis leagues in northwest Houston, day trips with grandkids, and traveling the world with Ebb.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Ebb, son Darrell Pye, daughter Diane Blandford and husband Bill, son Randy Pye and wife Yukie, and daughter Laurie Carnegie and husband Ian. She is also survived by grandchildren, Megan Holstien and husband Will, Justin Blandford, Michelle Pye, Allison Pye and husband Jon Wiegand, Annie Carnegie, and great grandsons William and Ford Holstien. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Grace Hische, her daughter in law, Patti Pye, and her grandson, Evan Carnegie.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6th at 1 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2 pm at Klein Funeral Home, 9719 Wortham Blvd, Houston, Texas. Immediately following the service, the family would love for all to join us at The Raveneaux Country Club, 9415 Cypresswood Drive, for a reception to celebrate Nan's life and all that made her so special. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Nan Pye's name to the Texas A&M Foundation, 401 George Bush Drive, College Station, Texas 77840 . Donations will be used to provide a scholarship to a married veteran at Texas A&M.
