Obituary

NaDale Edds, age 95, of Cypress, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026.

Born on April 18, 1931, in Temple, Texas, NaDale was the beloved daughter of Avery Dale Gregory and Nadine Gregory. She graduated from Temple High School and soon afterward married the love of her life, James Fletcher Edds. Together they built a loving marriage and family that spanned decades and communities across Texas.

Early in their marriage, NaDale and James lived in Temple until James entered the Korean War, serving in the United States Air Force in Wichita Falls, Texas. While there, they welcomed their first son, James Gregory "Greg" Edds. After James completed his military service, the family returned to Temple, where their second son, Eddie Dale Edds, was born.

In 1962, the family moved to LaMarque, Texas, where they lived for ten years before relocating to Nacogdoches in 1972. Later, NaDale and James returned to Temple, where they spent many happy years before making their final move to the Houston area in 2013.

NaDale devoted most of her life to caring for her family as a loving wife and mother. After her sons were grown, she worked for several years as a dental office manager in Temple before retiring.

She was known for her warm smile, kind heart, and endless stories. NaDale never met a stranger and could brighten a room with conversation and laughter. She loved playing bingo and especially enjoyed any opportunity to play slot machines with family and friends.

Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She loved the church deeply and served as President of the WSCS while her husband James served as President of Methodist Men. Later in life, she started a Bible study group at the senior living apartments where she lived, inspiring many people through her love of scripture and her desire to share God's word with everyone she met.

NaDale is survived by her brother David Gregory and wife Joyce Gregory, sons James Gregory Edds and wife Elizabeth Edds and Eddie Dale Edds and wife Nell Edds; her grandchildren, Lisa Prather and husband Stephen Prather II, Aaron Edds and wife Jessica Edds, Kymberly Tubbe and husband Casey Tubbe, and Travis Edds and wife Nikki Edds; and her great-grandchildren, Stephen Prather III, Avery Prather, Pierce Prather, Eli Edds, Cameron Edds, Logan Tubbe, and Harlyn Edds.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Patsy Chesser and beloved husband, James Fletcher Edds.

A funeral service celebrating NaDale's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Klein Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Houston National Cemetery on the following Monday. Due to scheduling restrictions at the cemetery, there will not be a graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in NaDale's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Wreaths Across America.

NaDale's family will forever remember her loving spirit, unwavering faith, joyful stories, and the smile she shared with everyone she met.
