Myung Ok Gill of Spring, Texas passed away on February 18, 2018.
Myung was born in Seoul, South Korea. After a happy childhood, she had to endure the untimely death of her father at the age of nine. She and her mother then had to tolerate the hardship of the ensuing Korean War on their own. Myung proved to be a resourceful and fearless aide to her mother by obtaining food and other necessities in order to survive. Shortly after the war, her mother passed away and she had to struggle on her own until finally meeting the love of her life, Army Lieutenant James C. Gill from Dearborn, Michigan. Without hesitation, she left her native country to start a new life in America. After starting her family, she found her passion for hairstyling, which provided an outlet for her outgoing personality.
She enjoyed many years spending time with her daughters and five grandchildren. Upon retirement, she and Jim moved to Las Vegas so she could enjoy her favorite pastime. Later, they began travelling the world and reconnected with Myung's family back in Korea. Upon hearing the news of a soon-to-arrive grandchild, she and Jim quickly made their way back to Spring, Texas where she took on babysitting duties and spending more time with her family.
Myung is survived by her husband of 53 years, James Gill, her daughters Lisa Hemsworth and husband Rob, Nina Meier and husband Eddie, and her grandchildren Sydney, Cristian, Trevor, Cameron and Cole.
