Jessie Myrtle Scheidemantel Smith, 92, passed to eternity peacefully with loved ones around her on Dec 16.  Myrtle was born in Houston to Louis Gammon and Oma Doris Wyche Scheidemantel.  She was the second of three daughters.  Myrtle graduated from Milby HS, received a BA from UH in 1949, and was a member of Gamma Sigma Sigma service sorority where she met most of her lifetime friends. Myrtle married Jackson "Jack" B. Smith, Jr. July 22, 1950.

Jack and Myrtle raised their 4 children at Memorial Drive Presbyterian where Myrtle was president of the Women of the Church and was later an Elder.  Myrtle was a Bible teacher and prayer warrior.  She sparkled everywhere she went loving people and sharing her outward and inner beauty.  She was a classy graceful warm and caring lady who loved God, family, and country. She shared the love of Jesus in all social circles.  She was a DAR member and Past Regent.

Myrtle is preceded by her husband of 60 years, the Honorable Jackson Barkley Smith, Jr. and son Jackson Barkley Smith, III; and granddaughter Kimberly Hope Smith.  She leaves behind her two sisters Oma Arnold and Mary Moorer; children Louis, Stephanie, Kevin; along with 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  Service will be at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Dr., Spring, Tx 77379, Tuesday December 22, 2020 at 11am with the family receiving friends from 9:30am to 10:30am.
