MYRTICE BICE HEADLEY

APRIL 29, 1930 – NOVEMBER 29, 2019

On November 29, 2019 our beloved mother and "Granny" departed this world for heaven and the "Mother and Grandmother's Hall of Fame". Myrtice Bice Headley was born on April 29, 1930 to Ottis Escoe Bice and Flocie Minor Bice in Clanton, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Earl Headley, sister Shirley Knight, brothers Elbert Bice and Olin Bice.

Myrtice is survived by sons Ronald Headley and his wife Susan, Stanley Headley and his wife Barbara. She also survived by her grandchildren Clint Headley and his wife Julie, Jeff Headley, Kelly Headley, and Bradley Headley with his wife Heather. Great grandchildren Garrett, Megan, Hunter, Camden, Taylor, Justin, Jordan, Alyssa, and Jayden. Also, her first and only great-great grandson Ivan.

Myrtice was born during the depression in rural Alabama, learning to work hard, which she did her whole life. She was a mother that always put her children first and foremost and was a loving wife, grandmother and great grandmother. Myrtice and Earl moved to Houston in 1955 where Earl went to work for Armco Steel. Myrtice's career included working at the school cafeteria, where she honed her skills as a great cook, later managing the Woodforest Drug Store Diner where she is remembered today as making the best pies.

When her husband Earl was forced to retire due to the closing of Armco Steel in the early 1980's, they returned to Alabama. Earl passed away in 1987, but Myrtice remained in Clanton, Alabama until her retirement in 2001 at the age of 70. While there, she worked at Chandler's Pharmacy. She was respected as a loyal, faithful employee and friend. She also worked many additional hours at various other businesses in Clanton.

Myrtice returned to Texas again in 2001 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She settled in Tomball where she became an active part of the community. She participated in the quilting group at the Tomball Community Center and made many other friends, all of whom loved her dearly. She maintained an immaculate home. She always had a beautiful garden and enjoyed sharing her vegetables with others.

Myrtice was a blessing to all who knew her. Her love and loyalty for her family and friends was evident in every aspect of her life. She will be greatly missed.
