Monica Louise Hanson, caring mother, grandmother, wife, sister and good friend  passed away Saturday,  April 3, 2021 at the age of 89. Monica was born on the family farm in Leon, Iowa July 29, 1931. Life led their family from the farm she loved to the suburbs of Chicago where she met and married Donald J. Hanson, August 20, 1952. They raised four children: Russ, Karen, Laura and Donna as they moved throughout the country to further Don's career. She made friends easily which helped the children adjust to their many moves.

Monica lived her life with humor, she had the loudest laugh in the room! She was a talented artist and seamstress. Her faith in God was the focus of her life and reflected in all she did. She was the guiding light that held our family together. Monica was active in her church, a scout leader, volunteer at school functions and faithful supporter of all the activities her children were involved in. "Frammie," as she was affectionately known by the grandchildren, was a huge influence in their lives.  She was always available to help or provide fun activities for them with undivided attention.

Mickey, as she was known to her friends and Don, spent some of their happiest moments with dear friends Dan and Gladys Vosyka, playing cards, having a few cocktails, good food and laughs. Many vacations were shared by the two families in upper Michigan creating wonderful memories. It is our fondest hope that they are laughing and playing cards in heaven now that the foursome is complete.

Preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Hanson, son, Russell Hanson, daughter, Laura J. LaFerriere and her parents, Clarence and Veronica LaFollette.

Monica is survived by daughters, Karen Tallard and husband Jeff, Donna Fox and husband Darren, sister, Diane Cunningham and husband Jim: brothers, Robert LaFollette and wife Kathy, Dennis LaFollette and wife Trudy: grandchildren, Gary Tallard, Shawn Tallard, Eric Hanson and wife Amy, Christine Hanson Dones husband Erie, Jessica Thomley Haven, Jordan Thomley, Jenna Fox, Jacob LaFerriere, Camryn LaFerriere, Caitlin Hanson and Colleen Hanson, daughter-in-law, Terri-Lynn Hanson and former son-in-laws, Terry LaFerriere and Aaron Thomley, great grandchildren, Amellia Tallard, Gabriel, Dominik and Adrian Tallard, Erin, Sophia, Lucas Dones and Carter Haven in addition to numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mass  will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Prince Of Peace Catholic Church, 19222 TX-249 Houston, TX 77070. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association in Monica's memory. She will be laid to rest at a family gathering in her beloved childhood home of Leon, Iowa July 31st, 2021.

You helped her with meals, doctor appointments, medication, trips to the emergency room, hospitalizations, falls, paperwork, not to mention the countless hours you spent with Mom making sure she was comfortable and well cared for.  When she needed you, you were there just as Mom would have been there for you. You're the best, baby sister."
