Monica Cawthon, born June 26, 1952 in Houston, Texas died peacefully on Friday, September 3, 2021, with her husband David at her side in Tomball, Texas. She was the eldest daughter of and preceded in death by her parents Willie Joe and Catherine Kopycinski, and her brother Gary Kopycinski.

In 1993, she met her husband David while working at Compaq Computers and they later married March 3, 1996 on the beach in Honduras. Together, they shared a love of scuba diving which took them on adventures to several Caribbean Islands, where they enjoyed meeting people from various backgrounds and loved learning about their culture, especially their cuisine. She also travelled to Italy, San Francisco, Arizona, Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, and numerous nearby locations.

Monica had many hobbies which included raising and showing paint horses, ballroom dancing, sewing, quilting and cooking. She also enjoyed attending auctions and soon became an avid art collector, with a special fondness of Erte prints and sculptures.

She was known for her cooking and elaborate holiday feasts. Monica also had a lifelong love of gambling; in that she was an accomplished blackjack and poker player. She also loved Dobermans, having several throughout her life.

Monica is survived by her devoted husband of 25 years, David Cawthon; her daughter, Sarah Stehling and grand-daughters, Katherine and Rachael Farquharson; son Kelly Eskew, his wife Gracie, grand-daughters Catherine Wyant and Kasey Bryan, grandson Avery Eskew, great-grandson, Nate Wyant; sister Brenda and brother-in-law Ernie McCreary, nephew Jason McCreary, niece Sarah Cobb and great-niece Loagan McCreary; nephew Brent Kopycinski; Aunt Susie Vernia, as well as many cousins, neighbors and friends.

Memorial Services will be Friday, September 10, 2021 at 10 am at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 West Main, Tomball, Texas 77375, followed by a private burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Houston Area Doberman Rescue www.hadr.org or a charity of your choice.
