Mona Elizabeth Turner, 72, passed away on December 19, 2025, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, surrounded by the people she loved most—her devoted husband of 49 years, Rand, and their three children, Adam, Elizabeth, and Trey. Born on December 9, 1953, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Mona grew up in Lafayette before building a life and home in Spring, Texas, where she was deeply rooted in her community.

Mona was a force of nature who lived life with enduring purpose. Her infectious energy, loyalty, grit, and faith in the Lord inspired her children and all those lucky enough to be in her circle of love.

A proud graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Mona was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and treasured the lifelong friendships she formed there. One of her greatest joys was gathering each year with her sorority sisters – the beloved "Attitudes" – on the beaches of Gulf Shores, where laughter and memories were always made abundant.

An athlete at heart, Mona excelled in basketball and tennis in her younger years and later found joy and competition on the pickleball court. Many in her Wind Rose community came to know her through her daily seven-mile walks, where her friendly smile and genuine warmth made everyone feel welcome.

Early in her career, Mona worked as an accountant in Houston, where she met the love of her life, Rand. After marrying and raising their family, she continued managing the family's finances and later followed her calling to help others by earning certification to teach children with special needs. A breast cancer survivor herself, Mona gave generously of her time volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, offering comfort, compassion, and understanding to families facing some of life's hardest moments. She had a rare gift for showing up – always ready to help, listen, and care when it mattered most.

Mona is survived by her husband, Walter Rand Turner Jr. (Rand); her children Adam Rand Turner and his spouse Cathy Davis Turner and their children Davis Rand Turner and Nora Elle Turner; Elizabeth Megan Turner Henry and her sons Turner Lee Henry and Jefferson Rand Henry; and Walter Rand Turner III (Trey) and his spouse Skylar Whitney Turner and their sons Walter Rand Turner IV (Walter) and Oscar Roberto Turner. She is also survived by her siblings Richard, David, Donna, and Katherine.

She was preceded in death by her father Adam Moise Sturlese, mother Mildred Savoie Sturlese, and her sister Trudy Sturlese Heflin.

Mona will be remembered for her deep love for her family and her legendary quiet strength. Her generosity of spirit and the sincerity she brought to every relationship left a lasting mark. It was her constant, selfless acts of love that defined her true character. Mona didn't need to tell you how much she cared – she showed it every day through her actions. Her presence made life better for those around her, and her legacy of love and compassion will continue through all who were fortunate enough to call her wife, mom, Mimi, or friend.
