In Loving Memory of Mona Lea Deutsch (October 11, 1943 - October 13, 2023)

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mona Lea Deutsch, who gracefully departed this world on October 13, 2023, at the age of 80. Born on October 11, 1943, in the heart of Wink, Texas, she embarked on a journey that led her to become a cherished cornerstone in the lives of those who knew her. Mona's enduring legacy and warm spirit will forever be etched in our hearts.

Mona Lea Deutsch spent her formative years in West Texas, graduating from Wink High School in 1962 and furthering her education at Texas Tech University, where she earned her degree in 1966. Over the last 45 years, she made the Houston area her home, leaving an indelible mark on the community she embraced.

Mona is survived by her loving sons: Darin Deutsch and his wife, Kristie, of Bryan, TX; Dustin Deutsch of Magnolia, TX; Dixon Deutsch of Los Angeles, CA; and Denton Deutsch and his wife, Traci, of San Antonio, TX. Her memory is also honored by her two sisters, Ruth James of Kingsland, TX and Winn Stovall of Midland, TX, as well as her three grandchildren, Ashley Peer, Kaitlyn Deutsch, and Caleb Deutsch. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind a circle of close cousins, lifelong friends, her loyal canine companions, Ace and King, and her feline companions, Queenie and Joker.

Mona is preceded in death by her parents, L.M. (Cooter) and Audie B. Anderson, as well as her sister, Frances Baskin, her brother, Arthur Gibson, Jr., her grandparents Ollie and Sally Frances Woullard, and her brothers-in-law, H.L. Baskin, Richard Stovall, and Don James.

Mona's professional journey led her to ExxonMobil Chemical, where she dedicated a number of years to her work. Yet, her true passion and devotion lay with her family, making her mark as a loving mother and gracious hostess. She was an exceptional cook and baker, and her Texas roots shone brightly through her love for the Lone Star State.

Mona's interests were as diverse as they were endearing. She delighted in scouring for antiques, mastering needlepoint, tending to her beloved garden, exploring the world through her travels, engaging in spirited games of Mahjong with friends, and losing herself in the captivating pages of Agatha Christie novels. Above all, her heart found its greatest joy in the company of her four adoring sons. She will forever be remembered for the sacrifices she made to raise them, her unparalleled work ethic, her legendary entertaining skills, and her ability to create culinary wonders.

The memorial service to celebrate the life of Mona Deutsch will be held on October 28, 2023, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home, located at 1400 West Main Street, Tomball, Texas 77375. Friends and family are invited to gather at 1:00 p.m. to pay their respects and come together at 2:00 p.m. to honor her remarkable life. As we bid our farewell, we find solace in knowing that Mona's memory will forever be a cherished presence in our hearts, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
