Mirna Violeta Martinez Lagos

Mirna Violeta Martinez Lagos was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on September 10, 1938, and passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas.

She married Luis A. Lagos in 1961, immigrated to the United States in 1969 , where she proudly became a citizen and together they raised four children— Marisa, Joseph, Alexander, and Jennifer —whom they nurtured with love, discipline, and faith.

Mirna, affectionately known as "Lela" to her grandchildren, was a kind and gentle mother and grandmother, a devoted wife, and a stay-at-home mom who worked tirelessly to create a warm and welcoming home. Her strength, dignity, and unwavering belief in God guided her family through every season of life. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Luis Lagos , with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Anna-Sophia, Alexander, and Liam Lagos; Ethan, Logan, Jonas, and Isaac Tackett; and Attis Quinn Lagos , as well as her step-grandson Carson Tucker . Also surviving are her sons-in-law Mark Tucker , husband of Marisa; Cody Tackett , husband of Jennifer; and daughter in law; Laura Lagos wife of Joseph as well as Cristi Rau, mother of Attis Quinn.

Lela will be remembered for her joyful energy and creative spirit. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, singing tangos, and sewing her own clothes . As a young woman, she was athletic and adventurous, competing in national and international archery competitions, running track, and proudly riding her beloved Vespa scooter around Montevideo. She once won a beauty contest, which she playfully downplayed by saying, "Everyone is attractive after a bath."

Even in later years, Mirna's vitality never waned. At over 60, she and her husband Luis built their dream home in Tomball, Texas—working side by side with the same dedication and zest that defined their entire life together.
Her family and friends will forever cherish her warmth, laughter, and steadfast love.

A memorial service celebrating Mirna's life will be held at the Mary Chapel, Prince of Peace Catholic Church , on November 22, 2025 at 11:30am . All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and honor her memory.
