Miriam Armas Ferries Snyder was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She left this world on October 8, 2022, at the age of 93 in Cypress, Texas. She was born to Benito Armas and Gumercinda Rivero on August 16, 1929, in San Jose de las Lajas, Cuba.  After graduating high school, she came to America to study at Austin College in Sherman, Texas where she met her husband James Ferries.  Together, they raised 4 children: Bruce, Marcus, Nelson, and Steven.

After James passed away in the early 70's, she assumed raising her boys by working 2 and sometimes 3 jobs to support them through college.  Her unconditional love and devotion allowed all her boys to graduate from college and become successful professionals.  During the time she was struggling to support her family, she opened a drapery shop in South Texas named Miriam's Draperies. With her artistic talents and friendly smile, she became a successful businesswoman and gained notoriety as one of the best seamstresses and interior decorators in the Rio Grande Valley.   In 1979, Miriam was re-married to Dean Snyder, a well-known photographer from Donna, Texas. Her hobbies later in life included painting landscapes, cooking the best Cuban dishes, and being a loving grandmother.

Miriam was a friend to many and never turned away anyone in need. She never had bad thoughts toward anyone and always looked for the good in everyone. She was a devoted Christian who is now at peace surrounded by angels.

Miriam is survived by her four children, Bruce (Terry) Ferries of Fort Worth, TX, Marcus (Mimi) Ferries of Fredericksburg, TX, Nelson (Sonya) Ferries of Cypress, TX, and Steven Ferries of Cypress, TX; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren with 1 on the way. She is also survived by her brother, Raul Armas (Janie) of Mathis, TX.

In her later years, Miriam was cared for by her youngest son, Steven.   The family wishes to thank Devotion Hospice Care and family friend, Blanca Serrato, for caring for Miriam in her final days.

A life well lived.  She is loved and will be missed!

A memorial service is scheduled for 10 am on Friday October 14, 2022, at the Klein Funeral Home on 1400 West Main Street, Tomball, Texas 77375.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association or the Dementia Society of America on her behalf.
