The amazing and well-loved Miriam Joyce Allred Buhanan, age 81, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Miriam was born on June 25, 1945, in Vernal, Utah to Charles and Melba Allred, and was the oldest of six children.  As a youth, she enjoyed exploring the Uintah Basin, singing with her family, dancing, attending church, and baking bread.  She graduated from Uintah High School and went on to attend Dixie College.

On June 27, 1964, Miriam married her eternal companion, Darrel Roe Buhanan. Though Darrel passed away nearly 24 years ago, Miriam's devotion never wavered. She faithfully celebrated their wedding anniversary every year while eagerly waiting for the day he would call her home. In a beautiful testament to their enduring love, Miriam was reunited with her sweetheart on June 27th, the exact day of their 62nd wedding anniversary.

A dedicated homemaker and a friend to all, Miriam loved attending the temple, reading many books, serving those around her, and teaching and testifying of the Savior. She spent more than 50 years teaching children ages 3-11 in the Primary Organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was affectionately known by all as Sister B. Her life of faith also included serving as an Ordinance Worker in the Houston Texas Temple, as a Seminary teacher, a Young Women President, a Sunday School teacher, a Relief Society teacher (the women's organization of the Church) and a Ward and Stake Primary President.

Miriam's greatest joy, however, was her family. As a dedicated grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, she created a home filled with warmth, faith and love. Every square inch of her walls was covered in family pictures. She cherished every opportunity to gather her family close, share her old stories and pass family heirlooms on to each of her grandkids. The kids always knew she carried a secret stash of mints, and no one was ever sent away without a little treat from her pockets. She also never missed an opportunity to pass down her testimony of Jesus Christ and shower her grandchildren with affection. Her legacy of love and devotion will live on in each of them.

Besides Darrel, Miriam was also preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Melba Allred, and her brothers, Larry and Ricky Allred.

She is survived by her four children, Webb Buhanan (Dayna), Wade Buhanan (Lorena), Shari Sullivan (Josh), and Jared Buhanan (Lydia), her 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and her brothers, John Allred, Terry Allred and Glade Allred.

Please join us in honoring Miriam on Saturday, July 25, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 19920 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, Texas 77379. The burial and graveside services will take place following the funeral at Oakwood Cemetery, located in Huntsville, Texas, where she will be laid to rest next to her eternal companion. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, with her sons serving as honorary pallbearers. We would love for those attending to join us in wearing pink that day.
