Milton William "Mickey" Eckert lived a life defined by integrity, curiosity, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

With deep love, we announce the passing of Milton William "Mickey" Eckert on June 25, 2026. Born in the Bronx, New York, to Lester and Gladys Eckert, Mickey built a life grounded in honesty, hard work, kindness, and a commitment to doing the right thing—even when no one was watching.

Mickey earned his Mechanical Engineering degree from Newark College of Engineering, became a licensed Professional Engineer, and enjoyed a distinguished career that began and ended with Exxon, with time at Stone & Webster and M.W. Kellogg in between. His career allowed him and his family to experience the world through assignments in London, England; Oranjestad, Aruba; and Tokyo, Japan.

The greatest joy in Mickey's life was his family. He shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sande, whom he first met at a candy store in Roselle, New Jersey, where he bought her and her aunt a lemon coke. Together they built a life filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories.

Mickey was a devoted father and proud grandfather who took tremendous pride in his children and welcomed their friends with warmth and kindness. He created lasting memories reading Winnie the Pooh to his children and grandchildren, complete with voices for every character. To Anna and Adam, he was lovingly known as "Papa."

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Mickey enjoyed everything from high school basketball and football to University of Texas football games with his daughter and NCAA basketball tournaments in Houston. He coached his children's teams and, while living in Roxbury Township, New Jersey, helped to found the community's first all-girls soccer league.

Mickey loved animals, good conversation, and a thoughtful debate. He was known for his quiet wisdom, humor, generosity, and the steady example he set for those around him.

He is survived by his wife, Sande Eckert; his daughter, Darah Eckert Duble, and her husband, David; his son, Joshua Eckert, and his wife, Sandy; his grandchildren, Anna and Adam Eckert; and his sister, Ann Provost.

Mickey's legacy lives on through the family he loved, the people he encouraged, and the many lives he touched. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud Papa, and true friend.
