Obituary

Michael Wayne Matheson was born in Tomball on March 7th, 1950 to Douglas and Betty Matheson. He was second of three children, his siblings being Gordon and Velina Matheson which preceded him in death. He married Diana Darden in 1971 and is survived by their two children Ginger and Michael as well as six grandchildren; Austin, Max, Kadan, Connor, Eric, Xander and Sadie. He is also survived by his niece and nephew, Nancy Eddelman and Thomas Matheson. His two nieces Tammy and Tonya Whitted preceded him in death and were the daughters of his sister Velina. Mike loved spending time with his children and grandchildren above anything else since his retirement. Mike's career spanned many industries including; the armed services, finance, insurance, food and trucking.  Throughout his life Mike enjoyed, tennis, dancing, hunting, horseback riding and going to smoky old auction halls looking for a great deal. He loved Christmas time and never missed out on a chance to dance to his favorite songs from his favorite movie Scrooge. Later in life he took to being an avid sports fan watching his beloved Astros winning the World Series for the first time. He would also enjoy watching his grandchildren compete in football, baseball and theatre.   The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 5:00 - 8:00 at Klein Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday January 3, 2018 in the chapel of Klein Funeral Home with burial following at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
