Micheal Lynn Wilson was born on December 3, 1945 to George Dee Wilson and Evelyn Marie Hudgens. Although he was born in Memphis, Tennessee, he would tell you that this was only by an act of war. His soul was always firmly rooted in Texas. He spent most of his early years as a military dependent and lived all over the U.S., but planted himself in Texas as soon as he was able. He was proud of being able to trace his roots back to Texas before its independence. He left this world on March 31, 2018 at the age of 72.
Mike served in the U.S. Army in both Vietnam and the Dominican Republic. Of all the ribbons and awards he received, what meant the most to him was his Combat Infantryman's Badge because it was earned rather than awarded. When asked where he got his education, his response was "University of South Vietnam Jungle Warfare School, Class of '64"
Mike began his career as a roughneck on an oil rig and eventually found his way into oilfield supply. Over the years he became a walking encyclopedia of valves. Beginning his career at Superior Iron Works, he worked for a number of supply companies in the Houston area and found a home at Redman Supply.
Mike continued with them through their transition to MRC Global and retired in 2016.
Mike was active as a leader in Boy Scouts and Order of the Arrow for many years and spent much of his time supporting his sons and daughter and their activities at Cy-Fair High School.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy Courtney Wilson, his children, Micheal Gabriel Wilson and wife Cathy of Cypress, TX; Colin Andrew Wilson and wife Debbie of Spring, TX; Erin Elizabeth Wilson of Cypress, TX; Robert Lynn Young and wife Michelle of Dallas, TX; Steven Wesley Young and wife Laura of Port St. Lucie, FL; and 13 grandchildren.
