Michael Francis Takemura, 55, of Spring, Texas, entered the gates of Heaven on November 13, 2016, surrounded by his loving wife, family, and closest friends.

He was born April 24, 1961 to Kaz and Nancy (Carlos) Takemura in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from Millard South High School in 1979.  Michael attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, earning a degree in Organizational Communications. His career in technology began in the late 80s with Overland Computers based in Omaha, where he oversaw sales and marketing.  In 1992, Michael moved to Houston, joining Compaq Computer Corporation as a Product Marketing Manager. He went on to become the Director of Compaq's Accessibility Program Office in 2001, where he was responsible for developing and implementing strategy for the company's accessibility efforts, including product development, engineering, marketing, and support of programs for persons with disabilities. Michael continued in that role after Compaq was acquired by HP in 2002 until 2011.  Over the years, Michael served on many boards and committees with various technology and disability organizations. In 2005, he was named one of ?Careers & the disABLED Magazine's ?Employees of the Year for his professional and advocacy efforts on behalf of people with disabilities in the workplace.

Michael exemplified a servant's heart. He loved doing mission work with children in Costa Rica.  He spent many Thanksgivings coordinating volunteers to feed the homeless/less fortunate at the City Wide Club of Clubs Big Feast Annual Thanksgiving meal.  It was always more important to Michael that someone else get a meal that needed it, rather than himself.  He was especially gifted at leading and directing groups of people to accomplish a common goal.

Michael was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed Creighton Blue Jays Basketball, the Chicago Cubs, and he particularly appreciated sharing time with his brothers, nephews, niece and sister watching OU Football.

Michael is survived by his wife Jena; sisters, Therese (George) Lerner and Kathy; brothers, John, Won, Paul (Rachelle) and Thomas; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Kaz and Nancy Takemura.

Special thanks goes to the exceptional doctors that helped Michael over the years, many of whom he was blessed to share time and form more personal relationships with.

Visitation was held on November 20 at Klein Funeral Home, Spring, Texas, followed by a memorial service on November 21 at Champion Forest Baptist Church, Houston, Texas.  Burial took place in the Talpa Cemetery, Talpa, Texas.

Memorials may be made to Watchman Fellowship or Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
