Michael "Mike" Jones, age 58 of Houston Texas, passed away and joined his Heavenly Father on December 20, 2022.

Mike was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend.  Mike brightened any room he entered.  His big heart and passion for people led him to a career of serving others.  After graduating from Klein Forest High School in 1983, Mike began a career in the emergency service field, serving on the Ponderosa Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter.  During his time with the fire department, he performed several roles including dispatcher, emergency care technician, communications field liaison and EMT/Paramedic.  Mike touched many lives at their most vulnerable stages, including delivering many babies. He worked for Harris County providing medical care, treatment, and risk management to 400 bootcamp inmates and staff.  In 2009 he joined the leukemia research team at MD Anderson, serving on the Diversity Council and making countless friendships. Mike had a strong faith and supportive church home, where he participated in bible studies and in bell choir.  He was also very active in his community, serving as a board member on his homeowner's association, and was appointed by Harris County Commissioner to represent his district on the Emergency Management Board.

Mike is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Leland Jones, Jr.  He is survived by his loving mother, Carolyn Jones of Edmond Oklahoma, and cherished "sister Sue" Susan Jones of Dallas Texas, along with   many adoring friends. He also leaves behind Aunt Rosalee Curtis of Albany Oregon and cousins Todd Curtis of Edmond Oklahoma, Jason Curtis of Albany Oregon, Candy Graham of New Braunfels Texas, Lori Higginbottom of Newcastle Oklahoma, and their families.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks any donations be made in Mike's memory to MD Anderson leukemia research, Spring Woods United Methodist Church, or the fire station of your choice.

A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, February 4 at 2:00 pm.  It will be held at Spring Woods United Methodist Church, 1711 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston, TX.  A reception will follow the service.  The family is grateful for everyone who has reached out with sympathy.
