Michael Joseph Rizzuto, Sr. was called to heaven on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the age of 84. Our hearts are broken but we have hope knowing he is in a better place now, free from pain and no longer suffering from Parkinson's Disease. Mike passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

"Mike", "Mickey", "Dad" and "Papa" is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lana Rizzuto, his children, Michael Rizzuto Jr., Deborah Harshaw, and Kenneth Rizzuto, and his sister Mildred "Carmen" Rizzuto along with five grandchildren, Kristin Agnew, Ashley Schafer, Jeffrey Rizzuto, Morgan Haley, and Jaime Rizzuto.  He was blessed with four wonderful great-grandchildren, Evelyn Grace Agnew, Walker "Tripp" Agnew III, Emersyn Haley, and Harrison Agnew.

Mike was born in Buffalo, NY on April 4, 1939. He graduated from Lake Shore High School in Angola, NY.  Mike then enlisted and served in the United States Air Force until he was forced to separate after a tragic accident took the lives of his father, Charles and his mother, Ann.  Mike graduated from University at Buffalo, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree and became a Mechanical Engineer.

Mike met his wife, Lana on a double date and they were happily married for 62 years.  They raised three children together. He was a doting husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, nephew, and friend to so many.  Mike loved and excelled at school and had a passion for baseball. During the years Mike loved spending time with his family. He always prioritized his family first.

Mike was lovingly referred to as "Papa with the white hair" to all the great-grandchildren, and "Papa" to all the grandchildren. Mike and Lana traveled the world and as the grandchildren got older, he loved taking them to Walt Disney World in Florida. Mike lived his life to the fullest and loved his family and friends. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his joy.

Mike's long and successful career after the Air Force began as a manager at General Motors in Buffalo, NY.  In 1977 he made a bold move that would change the course of his and his family's life by moving to Houston, TX.  He joined AMF Geo-Space and became a senior manager leading geophysical and seismic exploration technologies.  Mike then took his mechanical engineering skills and employed them at Bently Nevada where he traveled the Caribbean for work, often taking Lana on these exotic business trips.  Mike and Lana also lived in Ft Myers Beach, FL and Pinehurst, NC where he ultimately retired. After retirement Mike received devastating news, he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.  Mike courageously battled the disease for over a decade with Lana in Pinehurst, NC. Ultimately, Mike and Lana moved back to The Woodlands, TX in 2021 to be closer to family.

A Memorial Celebration of his life, with military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, will be held at Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia, TX at a later date. The service will also be live streamed for family and close friends who are unable to travel.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
