Obituary

Michael Lee Parker, 41, was born on April 22, 1976 in Houston, Texas. He passed away on April 7, 2018 surrounded by family after a courageous 8-year battle with brain cancer. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Michelle. His pride and joy were his son Travis and daughter Vivian. He will be dearly missed by his parents, Pamela and Phillip Parker of Spring, Texas, and his grandmother Betty LaBonte, of Houston, Texas.

Michael graduated from Westfield High School in 1994. He was a competitive swimmer and won a bronze medal with his relay team at the state championship. He has maintained many friendships from his time in Spring I.S.D. He leaves behind many dear friends who were by his side through life and the difficult cancer journey.

Michael was a proud graduate of Texas A&M University class of '98. He was an active member of the Corp of Cadets in the D-2 outfit and held several cadet leadership positions. He received his bachelors in Agricultural Development. After graduation, Michael was commissioned as an officer into the United States Army. He proudly served his country in the 327th Infantry Company of the 101st Airborne Division. After his time of service, Michael returned to Texas A&M to complete a Masters in Land Economics and Real Estate.

Michael was passionate and motivated in his professional career and worked for several commercial real estate companies including Trammell Crow Company, Stan Johnson Company and CBRE. He was a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and had a particular interest and experience with brokerage and portfolio management.

Michael was an avid outdoorsman, in his leisure time, he could be found hunting, fishing, golfing or skiing. He enjoyed sitting poolside cheering for Travis at swim meets. Michael cherished quiet moments of snuggling, watching princess cartoons and reading books with Vivian.

Michael is survived by numerous family members including Uncle Jack Parker and wife Ruth Lynn of Huntsville, Texas, Uncle Pete LaBonte and wife Vicky of New Braunfels, Texas, and Aunt Naomi LaBonte of Houston, Texas. As an only child, Michael considered all his cousin's dear friends. Mike loved his family by marriage. He is survived by mother-in-law, Cynthia Thielhorn, of Spring, Texas, brother-in-law, Aaron Thielhorn and wife Lara Marie of Houston, Texas and sister-in-law, Kelly Surratt and husband Patrick of McKinney, Texas. "Uncle Mike" was proud of his six nieces and nephew.
