Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Devoted Leader

Michael Muse Moore passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was 82 years old. A man of quiet strength and unwavering principles, Michael was cherished for his wisdom, generosity, and enduring love for his family, friends, and community.

Born on July 28, 1942, Michael was a proud graduate of Spring Branch High School. He went on to attend Texas Tech University, where he formed lifelong friendships and became a member of the Kappa Alpha Order—an affiliation that reflected his deep-rooted values of honor, leadership, and brotherhood.

Michael lived a life full of purpose, commitment, and service. His professional career included influential roles at Cameron Iron Works, Delta Builders, and C Turtle. He was widely respected for his leadership, work ethic, and integrity in every position he held.

His passion for service extended far beyond his career. Michael was deeply involved in the Jaycees, where he served with distinction as President of both the Texas Jaycees and the United States Jaycees. Through his visionary leadership and mentorship, he helped shape a generation of civic leaders across the country. His contributions were recognized when he was honored as one of the Five Outstanding Young Texans (FOYT)—a prestigious accolade that reflected his lasting impact on his community and state.

He also devoted many years to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where he proudly served on the Ticket Sales Committee and was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding commitment and service. His involvement was a source of pride and joy, allowing him to contribute to one of Houston's most cherished institutions.

Michael's faith was central to his life. He was a devoted member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, where he served faithfully as the lead usher for Sunday services and was an active participant in the Men's Bible Study group. His quiet leadership and steady presence were a blessing to all who worshipped alongside him.

Outside of his professional and civic accomplishments, Michael found great joy in simple pleasures—especially square dancing. He and his beloved wife, Linda, shared a deep love for the tradition and camaraderie of square dancing and were longtime members of their cherished group, the Hey Lollies. Their time dancing together brought them happiness, laughter, lifelong friendships, and treasured memories.

Michael faced the challenges of his later years with courage and grace, including serious health complications, which he endured with quiet dignity and resilience.

He was the proud father of Meredith (husband Kirk Sanford) and Michelle (husband Ken Zagorski). He was a devoted and loving grandfather—affectionately known as Gpop—to Michael, Merrick, and Sheridan Sanford, and to Chloe and Kylie Zagorski. His legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren—in their character, compassion, and the values he instilled in them.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, William S. Moore; his mother, Elizabeth Moore Workman; his brother, Allen Moore; and his beloved wife, Linda, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership.

He is survived by his family, extended relatives, and many dear friends who became family over the years.

A memorial service will be held at Chapelwood United Methodist Church on June 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Sanctuary. All who knew and loved Michael are welcome to attend and celebrate his remarkable life.

Michael Muse Moore was a man who lived with faith, loved with depth, and led with conviction. He passed with peace and leaves behind a legacy of leadership, faith, devotion, and a life beautifully danced.
