Michael "Mike" J. Melkowski passed away June 15, 2016 after an inspiring battle with cancer. Born and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri, he settled in Spring, Texas where he lived for over 20 years.

He was born March 30, 1958 to Martin and Janice Melkowski.

Mike attended St. Francis Xavier School and Parish. He graduated from LeBlond High School in 1976 and attended Missouri Western State University.

At the time of his death, Mike was proudly employed by HEB where he was regularly recognized and awarded for his dedicated work ethic. Prior to that, he worked at Rainbow Bread for over 20 years.

Those who knew him best will remember him as a hard-working, selfless provider who often put the needs of others before his own. Those who will miss him the most will remember him as "Paw Paw."

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Marty.

He is survived by his stepchildren whom he loved and raised as his own: Wayne Leggett and Susan Tipler of Spring, Texas; his grandchildren Angel, Ashton, and Timothy; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends and co-workers. His memory will be cherished by those blessed to know him.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday July 9 at Louetta Road Baptist Church, where the family will receive friends one hour prior.
