Obituary of Michael Pete Marchiando

March 6, 1944 – March 31, 2026

Michael Pete Marchiando passed away peacefully at his home in Spring, Texas, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Michael lived a life rooted in faith, family, service, and joy.

Michael graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston in 1962 and went on to earn his degree in Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin College in Nacogdoches, Texas, in 1966. He dedicated his professional life to serving others and working hard, beginning his career as a math teacher with Houston ISD and later serving as an officer with the Department of Public Safety. He later worked in the oil and gas industry as a buyer and seller and concluded his career as a real estate manager before retiring.

Michael shared a beautiful life with his wife of 53 years, Judy Marchiando. The two met while Michael was working at the Department of Public Safety, when Judy had recently moved from Tennessee and needed to obtain her Texas driver's license. Michael asked for her phone number, something she initially thought was for official purposes, but it marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and faith.

A devoted and deeply loving father, Michael never missed a moment in his children's lives. He was present at every game, event, and milestone, not only for his own children but also as a "chauffeur" and supporter for their friends. His children knew him as their greatest encourager, steadfast and supportive, always showing up. He carried that same love into his role as a grandfather.

Michael had a deep love for music that filled his home and shaped countless memories. Whether playing the piano, accordion, or performing in the Jubilee banjo band, music was his joy. He often woke his children for church not with an alarm clock, but with the sound of the piano or accordion, a reflection of both his playful spirit and his unwavering faith.

His faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his life. Michael raised his family in the church, instilling in them strong values and a lasting foundation of faith. In his final days, while receiving hospice care at home, he shared that he was going to a party on Tuesday. In true Michael fashion, he went to the greatest celebration of all, meeting Jesus on that Tuesday.

Michael also loved to travel and camp, creating lasting memories with family and friends. He was a storyteller at heart, often sharing stories from his childhood and his years working with the Department of Public Safety, bringing laughter and wisdom to those around him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pietro Libero Marchiando and Frances Marion Fox Marchiando, and his brother, Richard Lee Marchiando.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Marchiando; his son, Christopher Marchiando and wife Kelly; his daughter, Tiffany Marchiando Box and husband Shawn; his sister, Frances Marchiando Halsell and husband Tome; and his five cherished grandchildren: Cayden Box, Hanna Box, Kyleigh Box, Kenley Marchiando, and Kaelyn Marchiando.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Heights Hospice, and especially to Michelle, for the love, compassion, and support shown during this time. She will always hold a special place in the family's heart.

Michael Pete Marchiando will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, lived faithfully, and showed up. His legacy of love, faith, music, and family will continue to live on in all who knew him.
