Michael P. Maier Jr., age 79 passed away Thursday.  Michael was born in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late Michael P. & Marion (Walsh).  He was raised in South Bend, Indiana and a graduate of St. Joseph High School and The University of Notre Dame.  He began his 35 year career with Shell Oil Company in Chicago in 1965.  On September 13, 1969, he married the love of his life, Phyllis L. Carr.  His career brought him from Chicago to Houston to California and finally back to Houston in the 1970's, where they raised their family.  He found his love of golf later in life and enjoyed playing with his sons, grandkids and his regular Tuesday and Thursday "guys".  He also loved to travel, spending many weeks at the beach in Destin, FL as well taking many cruises with his wife and friends.  When not golfing or travelling, he could be found at one of his grandkids events, everything from golf tournaments, dance recitals, football, baseball, volleyball, and soccer games, to name just a few.  He was an amazing husband, dad, grandpa and papa.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Phyllis and their three children:  Michael (Connie), Shannon (Marc) Eschenbach and Brian.  Michael is also survived by his 10 grandchildren:  Meaghan, Matthew, Melanie, Mitchell, Peter, Abby, Paige, William, Brooke and Michael.  He is also survived by his sister: Marilyn Williams as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  Friends and Family will gather for a Memorial mass on Tuesday, November 22 at 3pm at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Spring.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ the Good Shepherd Church or Be the Match bone marrow registry.
