Michael Allan Jones met our Lord and Savior the morning of January 16, 2020. Born November 5, 1944 in Clarksville, Texas, to Bill and Jo Jones, Mike grew up in Pasadena, Texas, where he was a baseball star at Pasadena High School. A gifted athlete, he attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas on a baseball and basketball scholarship, and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. He earned a B.A. in Accounting and attended The University of Texas College of Business Administration to pursue a Master's in Business. He earned a CPA and was a successful businessman and practicing CPA until his retirement.  His wife of fifty-two years, June, was the love of his life. They raised three daughters Stacia (Pratt), Jodi (Neitzel) and Amanda and enjoyed family road trips to the beach, Disneyworld, skiing in Aspen and numerous camping and fishing trips. Mike was a staunch advocate of children and adults with disabilities having served as President of United Cerebral Palsy of Houston and along with June founded Homeplace of Texas, a community for adults with disabilities in Spring. Mike thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors whether it was hitting a 3-wood, sitting in a deer blind, or finding a secret fishing spot for bass and catfish. He loved a good barbecue, Blue Bell ice cream, Dr Pepper, anything with peanuts, peeling crawfish, and drinking a strong cup of coffee, even if he spilt most of it. He loved jokes, both good and bad, and enjoyed telling stories some which were even true! He befriended the old and young, the rich and poor, and was known to lend a dollar never expecting it to be repaid. As a true gentleman, he was always opening a door or standing when a lady walked into a room, and with a houseful of women, it meant he stood a lot! He taught his girls to bait a hook, hit a fastball, ride a bike, jump off the high-dive, and shell peanuts, but most of all how to love Jesus and serve others. He was an Elder at Northwest Bible Church, and a beloved Sunday School teacher. His wife June was his greatest love and passion and their 52-year long marriage is a testament to their love and commitment to each other. They loved to laugh, watch old movies and together became staunch supporters and advocates of people with disabilities. Mike's love for his family poured into his four beloved grandchildren Brendan (Pratt), Braeden (Pratt), Ainsley (Neitzel) and Audrey (Neitzel) with their annual Grandparent Camp outings, trips to the beach, wrestling matches, hotdog cookouts and singing silly songs. Mike is preceded in death by his parents Bill Jones and Jo Jones. He is survived by his wife June, daughter Stacia (Pratt) son-in-law Jeff Pratt, Jodi (Neitzel) son-in-law Brian Neitzel, daughter Amanda, grandchildren Brendan Pratt, Braeden Pratt, Ainsley Neitzel and Audrey Neitzel, and numerous extended family members and friends. Mike's intellect, thoughtfulness, rich southern drawl, and love for his friends and family will be missed, but we celebrate his Heavenly Homecoming. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Homeplace of Texas .
