Michael Jonathan Jones, 77, of Magnolia, Texas, passed away on November 10, 2022 as the result of injuries sustained in a fall.
Michael was born in Seymour, Indiana, on December 16, 1944, and was raised in Martin, Tennessee, but lived the last 54 years of his life in Texas.
He graduated from Martin (TN) High School in 1962 and graduated top of his Civil Engineering class at the University of Tennessee in 1968. As a young man, he was a co-op student with Southern Railway and served as a medic in the Army National Guard. Michael was a member of Tau Beta Pi and a registered Professional Engineer who worked for Texaco for more than 35 years, several of those years on projects in Central and South America.
Michael was a tremendous example of a man who loved his family well, but most of all he loved his Lord Jesus Christ. Though he will be greatly missed, his family rejoices that he is now with Jesus. Michael's faith is now sight and the Lord has completed the work that He began in him. He faithfully served as a deacon at Champion Forest Baptist Church for more than 40 years and continued to use his engineering knowledge in faithful service to his Lake Windcrest neighbors. Michael and Tricia, his wife of 57 years, enjoyed traveling the world, especially their mission trips to Kenya, and were proud supporters of Magnolia High School sports.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife Tricia, son Andy Jones, daughter Lauren (Mike) Hoffman, granddaughter Mackenzie Jones, brothers Keith and Ken (Mickie) Jones, sister Nancy (Jim) Bass, brother-in-law Lee (Joyce) Currie, and many other friends and relatives who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Lorene Jones, sister Karen Jones, and sister-in-law Judy Jones.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Champion Forest Baptist Church (15555 Stuebner-Airline) with the memorial service immediately following at 11 a.m. The burial will be at 9 a.m. on Friday, November 18 at Klein Memorial Park (9714 FM 2920) in Tomball.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael's memory may be made to International Treasure House Ministries in Kenya (ithministries.org), Boys & Girls Country in Hockley, Texas (boysandgirlscountry.org), or Mission Centers of Houston (missioncenters.org).
