Michael David Jackson, of Cypress, Texas, entered the gates of Heaven on June 22, 2024. He was 74. Mike (or Mickey to many) was born to Frederick Lawrence Jackson and Ann (Kuhn) Jackson on November 1, 1949, in Cameron, where he was raised. He was a 1968 graduate of French High School in Beaumont. After attending Texas A&M for one year, he received a congressional appointment to play football at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York, graduating in 1973. He served his country while in the Merchant Marines in Vietnam. He married the love of his life, Susan George, on September 13, 1975, in Houston. Early on, he taught courses in marine engineering and nautical science at Texas A&M University, Galveston. Mike had a long and successful career in oil and gas.

Mike had a deep love of Christ and the Church. For years, Mike served in volunteer roles at Lakewood Methodist, including on youth mission trips and in men's ministry groups. He absolutely loved to cook and was active for years in the Emmaus community. Mike's sense of humor was unparalleled, and he relished in giving anyone and everyone a hard time at every opportunity. He was an expert entertainer and storyteller, and he shared many tales of his exploits and adventures around the world. Some of them were actually true.

Mike loved nature and animals, especially the many dogs he had over the years. He was sensitive to the needs of others and constantly covered his family and loved ones in prayer. He was incredibly generous and a straight shooter. If he felt God leading him to do something, he did it. Mike lived life to the fullest, and his legacy of faith, love and care for others will be felt in the hearts of hundreds for years to come. Heaven has gained the legend that is Mike Jackson, who was both fully human and fully hero.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Susie Jackson, of Cypress; daughters Amy Murphy, of Waco, Kelly McShan, of Dallas, and Krissy Jackson, of Houston; seven grandchildren Harper, Hazel, Heidi, Oskar, Jackson, Carter, and Michael; brother Fred Jackson, of Nederland; extended family and countless friends.
