On Monday September 28, 2020, Michael Allen Hughes succumbed to injuries from a motorcycle accident at the age of 25.
Michael was born in The Woodlands, Texas on January 27, 1995. He grew up on family property in Spring and attended Spring schools before moving to Cypress, Texas. Michael graduated from Cy Woods High School in 2013.
Michael enjoyed an active childhood. At the age of six, Michael began riding motorcycles and racing in organized off road and motocross events across the state of Texas, earning a championship #1 plate in 2004 in the South Texas Off Road Motorcyclist championship series.
Michael participated in athletics while at Cy Woods High school playing football his freshman and sophomore year. Michael was also a member of the Cy Woods FFA Chapter. During high school Michael became interested in the guitar. After a few lessons and coaching from friends he was strumming his favorites and even working on a few of his own songs.
After motorcycles, Michaels second love was the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Michael was equally in his element stalking white tail deer and turkey in Menard County, Texas, cork and bobber fishing in the San Saba River, and wading Matagorda Bay for trout and reds.
Michael is survived by his son Jace and Jace's Mother Taylor Battaglia, Step-Father & Mother Will & Deborah Schmidt, Father & Step-Mother Craig & Laurie Hughes, Grandparents Hilda West-Myer, Robert Hughes and Donna Damon, Sister Katherine Hughes, Step-Sister Amber Agee, Step-Brother & Wife Charles & Laurel Agee, Step-Sister and Husband Kelsey & Logan Brown, along with numerous other family and friends.
Michael never met a stranger and he will always be remembered by his smile and outgoing personality. In lieu of flowers, the families are requesting donations be made to the following;
