A Life Well Lived

Michael A. Haines loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother and uncle passed away on January 30th, 2025 surrounded with care and love by family members.

Michael is pre-deceased by his parents George and Mildred Haines.  He is survived by his wife Laurie (nee Luchesi), children Ryan (and his wife Dorette), Regan and Courtney, grandchildren  Ryan, Aidan, Regan, Logan, Madigan, Charlee and Nolan Bear, sister Stephanie (and husband John), niece Meaghan, nephews Jim and Tom and great niece Lilah.

Born on June 14, 1944, Mike, was a longtime resident of Elmwood Park, NJ before moving to Spring, TX in 2012. His journey through life was marked by dedication, an appreciation of life's goodness and life's quirks and an unwavering loyalty, strength and support for his family and friends.

Mike graduated in 1966 from Montclair State Teachers College and  began his professional career in education in Hawthorne, NJ. His path took a significant turn in 1969 when he chose to enlist in the US Army, serving his country with honor and distinction.

In 1983, Mike founded Michael Haines & Associates, with a vision to provide innovative, high-quality educational materials to students from elementary grades through college. His work with school districts throughout New Jersey earned him immense respect within the educational community. Mike's commitment to education and his dedication to excellence were evident in every project he undertook. He continued this career with enthusiasm and vigor until his retirement in 2025.

After relocating to Spring, Texas, Mike embraced "retirement" with the same enthusiasm that characterized his professional life. He took on two retirement jobs: as a crossing guard for neighborhood children and at his local gym. In these roles, he was well-liked, forming new friendships and maintaining his active lifestyle.

Mike's life was rich and full, and his legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, the friendships he formed, and the family he cherished. Remembering Mike, we celebrate the beautiful life he led and the love he shared with all who had the privilege of knowing him. Like Mike himself his passions were genuine and diverse and included his family, his dogs, his beloved New York Yankees, sharing his knowledge on the myriad of subjects that interested him, good books, and bad jokes.

A memorial service will be organized at a future date in New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation in Michael's name.

Rest in the sweetest peace, dear man. Heaven has indeed gained a beautiful soul.
