Mike Guinn, 69 - Resident of Magnolia, TX passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, April 19, 2020 after a more than yearlong battle with stage 4 lung cancer that eventually spread throughout his body.   He fought hard every day to keep going, to get better, and to be the exception and never gave up fighting.

Mike was born in the West Texas area and then moved to Houston with his family.  There he met his wife and raised his family eventually settling in Magnolia in the early 2000's.  Mike started working as a teenager managing a full service gas station in North Houston eventually started driving trucks hauling lumber, salt water and then steel.  His unfortunate lead foot forced him to quit driving trucks landing him at the start of his 43 year long career in industrial steel fabrication.  Beginning as an apprentice in the fabrication shop at CeeJay Steel in Spring, TX, where he worked his way up to Shop Foreman and then Project Estimator and Vice President for ChrisMand Steel before moving on to Chief Estimator at Big4 Steel also in Spring.  He enjoyed his job and was disappointed when his health required him to retire in 2019.

Everyone that knew him loved him for the big, strong, smart man that he was.  He had a gentle, caring heart of gold and could never say no to someone in need.  He went out of his way to help those close to him whether family or friend.   He was a gentle giant forever known as "Big Mike" with the beard.  Kids loved him and he had no problem getting down on the floor to play or be silly with them.  He was a man of few words but still managed to make himself understood.  When Mike had something to say it was a good idea to stop and listen because it was important.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.  He was actively looking forward to the next hunting season.  He was a jack of all trades, a problem solver and was at ease working with his hands whether it was landscape work, wood working, construction or mechanic work.

Mike was preceded in death by his Mother Gladys, Brother Preston, Brother Delbert and Sister Cathy.   Mike is survived by his Wife of 48 years Theresa, Sister Annette, Son Michael, Daughter Sandra, his four grandchildren Sarah, David, Dylan and James as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

His family will dearly miss his wisdom, humor and the twinkle in his eye when he gave "the look".
