Michael Roy Gabrielse, beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away on September 4, 2022 at the age of 62. Michael was born on March 3, 1960, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He grew up in Dearborn, Michigan where he graduated from Southfield High School in 1978. He attended Covenant College and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1982, with a concentration in marketing. The following year, Michael married his high school sweetheart, Jane, on July 2 nd , 1983. They moved to Houston, Texas where they raised their family and lived for the next 39 years.

Michael started his career as a sales representative in the automobile and marine industries. He was blessed to work as a Retreat Director at Forest Glen Christian Camp in Huntsville, TX. After that, he worked for the airline industry in customer service and ended his career as a background investigator.

Michael was a loving father and husband who loved the outdoors and cherished making memories with his family and friends. He organized many camping and hunting trips, as well as prolific family travels. He enjoyed cooking and grilling for a crowd and never hesitated to invite a stranger. His quick wit and sense of humor yielded countless smiles and laughter.

Michael was a devoted and passionate follower of Jesus. He was faithful and selfless in his devotion to service in different areas of the church including vacation Bible school, praise team, and in various small groups. Michael was also a gifted and passionate evangelist who used his gift to spread the love of Jesus to everyone he came in contact with. During his battle against cancer, he would be found witnessing to anyone and everyone at MD Anderson, from his nurses and doctors to the volunteers and security guards alike. He brought hope to many during his hardest days at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Many have said that his love for Jesus, his unashamed witness and his kindness drew them to the Lord. His legacy for the Kingdom on earth will be remembered by many.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jane Gabrielse, and their four children and their spouses, Michael and Chic Gabrielse, Megan and Daniel Oliphant, Marci and Gavin Eilers, and Maria Gabrielse. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Gabrielse, sister and brother-in-law, Laurel and Bruce Edwards, their two children, Seth and Emilie, and his brother, Thomas's, former wife, Jodi, and their three children, Tate, Kyla, and Marielle. He was preceded by his brother, Thomas Gabrielse, and his parents, Richard and Idelle (Ruiter) Gabrielse.

Michael's legacy is seen in the way his children love others, love the outdoors, and love Jesus. He will be remembered for his faith, boldness, humor, and hospitality. He will be greatly missed by all those who have been touched by his life.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 10, from 1:00 to 3:00pm at Klein Memorial Funeral Home (1400 W. Main St. Tomball, TX), followed by a graveside service at Klein Memorial Park in Spring, TX.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 11, at 3:00pm at Woodsedge Community Church (25333 Gosling Rd. Spring, TX 77389).

In honor of Michael, please wear your favorite camouflage or color in lieu of black!
