Michael "Mike" Edward Oubre went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. He was a beloved husband and father, a respected businessman, and a loving Christian, family member, and friend. He was 46 years old and a resident of The Woodlands, Texas.

Mike is survived by his wife of 22 years, Jamie Keller Oubre; his two daughters, Grace Elizabeth Oubre and Faith Ann Oubre; his mother, Jane Cunningham Oubre; and many other wonderful and loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James Oliver Oubre.

Mike was born in Louisiana on August 22, 1974. He grew up in Lutcher, Louisiana and graduated High School in 1992. He & Jamie were married in 1998 and then moved to Slidell, Louisiana. Mike graduated in 1998 from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor's Degree. He continued his studies and graduated in 2001 from the University of New Orleans with a Master's in Business Administration (MBA). He and his wife and daughters were relocated with his jobs to Florida, to North Carolina, and back to Louisiana. They have been residing in The Woodlands, Texas for the past eight years. Mike has been in Human Resources as a Compensation Manager for 20 years. The past seven years he worked for LyondellBasell Chemical Company in Houston, Texas.

Mike loved relaxing, eating good food, getting his surprise McDonald's McRibs, washing his truck, and reading his Bible. He enjoyed his men's meetings at church and going to "Cars & Coffee" on the weekends. He also liked to get nice watches and to collect things like hats and baseball cards. Mike especially loved spending quality time with his family. He was wonderful at leaving sweet notes for his wife and two daughters. These will always be cherished. He found being around the water to be peaceful, and one of his favorite prayers was "The Serenity Prayer". When asked what he would find restorative, his exact response was, "I see myself in a new white T-shirt, comfy jeans, sandals, a Porsche, and my wife in the seat next to me." He was able to fulfill all of this, just not while in a Porsche.

Mike will be remembered for his humor, his good looks, and his creativity. He even started his own Christian comic-strip style tract entitled "Old Man, New Man". Mike liked to skateboard, to play Fantasy Football, and to watch shows such as "The Food That Built America", "BattleBots", and various documentaries about space. For years he watched and waited for the team to find the treasure on "The Curse of Oak Island". Sadly, no one may live long enough to see this happen.

Mike was a hard worker and an extremely intelligent man. He earned many Human Resource/Compensation Certifications, including CCP, CECP, GRP, CBP, SPHR, and SHRM-SCP. In addition, he was a published writer for WorldatWork. His articles included "Survival Guide for Compensation Relevance" and "The DNA of a Compensation Professional".

Please join Jamie, Grace, and Faith for a Celebration of Life Service that will be held for Mike on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 2:00pm in the Worship Center Building at WoodsEdge Community Church ( 25333 Gosling Road in Spring, Texas 77389 ). There will be a reception in the Worship Center Building immediately following service for anyone who would like to attend. As per his wishes, Mike was cremated. His urn is at home with his wife and two daughters, and it will be present at his Celebration of Life Service.

Jamie, Grace, and Faith would like to thank everyone who has shown them such love, concern, and support - spiritually, emotionally, and financially. Special thanks to Jamie's dear friend, Amy Heim, for setting up a GoFundMe Account, to Mike's employer and coworkers at LyondellBasell for providing the catering for the upcoming reception, and to WoodsEdge Community Church Care Team and to Klein Funeral Home for each providing outstanding help and service when guiding Jamie, Grace, and Faith as they navigated this very devastating time.

While Mike will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, his wife and two daughters would encourage everyone to celebrate his beautiful life. Of all his accomplishments, he should be most remembered for how he loved Jesus, and for the way he loved others. Jamie, Grace, and Faith are thankful that he is now at peace and will forevermore be in the presence of their Lord and Savior - The Great and Faithful I AM.
