Meta Emma Brautigam's Obituary
Meta Emma Schwarz Brautigam ("Sunny") was born August 12, 1925, in Rosehill, Texas, and went home to her family on August 25, 2018, in Tomball, Texas, at the age of 93 years and 13 days.
She was one of four daughters of Fred H. Schwarz and Ida Elizabeth Gerth Schwarz. Sunny was a descendant of one of the pioneer German families that settled in NW Harris County. She lived her life in the Rosehill and Tomball area. She graduated high school at the age of 16 from CyFair High School only attending through the 11th grade then and she was the first female to four letter. She worked for Klein's grocery store for several years, then for Brautigam's IGA store for over 20 years, then the Guaranty Bond bank two years, and retired from Gerland's grocery store after 17 years. Aside from working and raising her family, Sunny loved traveling, hunting, fishing, sports (especially golf), gardening, and volunteering at Rosehill UMC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ida Schwarz; sisters, Esther Hooker, Dora Fehrle, and Lilly Schauer; son, Freddie Brautigam; and special friend Lawrence Hegar.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan DeLeon; her grandchildren, Dacie Wood and husband Justin, Tobry DeLeon and wife Tina, and Amanda Carter and husband Kevin; her great-grandchildren, Trenton McEwin and wife Stephanie, Tobry DeLeon, Jr., Colton DeLeon, Ashlyn Llorente, Fred Brautigam, and Kevin and Hunter Carter; and a great-great-grandson, Jaxson McEwin.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, at Klein Funeral Home - Tomball, 1400 W. Main, Tomball, TX 77375. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 30, at Rosehill United Methodist Church, 21022 Rosehill Church Road, Tomball, TX 77377. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery, Tomball.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tobry DeLeon, Sr., Trenton McEwin, Tobry DeLeon, Jr., Colton DeLeon, Justin Wood, and Fred Brautigam. Frankie DeLeon has been named an honorary pallbearer.
