Melvin Frank Zapalac, 82, of Cypress, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. He was born on July 18, 1941, in Hallettsville, Texas, to Eddie and Marcella Zapalac. He had an older brother, Edward Zapalac.

In his spare time, Melvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching westerns on TV. He was in the National Guard and worked in the steel building construction business.

Melvin married Dorothy Sokol on October 19, 1963, and together they raised four children: David, Linda, Tracy, and Kenneth.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Marcella Zapalac; his brother, Edward Zapalac; and his son, Kenneth Zapalac. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Dorothy Zapalac; his son, David Zapalac; his daughter, Linda Zapalac; his daughter, Tracy Olivarez and her husband Ralph; and two grandsons, Christopher Olivarez and Jonathan Olivarez.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, at Klein Funeral Home - CyFair Northwest, 9719 Wortham Boulevard, Houston, TX 77065. The Rosary will follow visitation at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 18, at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Road, Houston, TX 77065, with interment to follow at Klein Memorial Park on State Highway 249 in Pinehurst.
