Melvin Ray Williams, born May 27, 1946, in Pattison, Texas, was welcomed into his eternal home with Christ on November 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at his bedside.

Ray, as many knew him, is survived and deeply missed by his loving wife, Cindy, of 61 years; his children, Lisa, Michelle, and Bruce; his granddaughters, Illissa and Shelby; and his four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sons-in-law, Dale and Charles; his daughter-in-law, Marie; his sister, Neva Mae "Dusty" Snelling; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Rivers Williams and Maude Sue Kirk Willams, and his sister, Eileen Kay Gant.

Ray was best known by many for his unwavering faith and love for God. He served as a Sunday School bus driver for many years and witnessed to countless people throughout his life. If you ever needed someone to pray for you or stand with you during a difficult time, you could always count on him. In his later years, he delivered a faith-based newspaper to many businesses and assisted-living facilities—something that brought joy to many. He was an avid reader of the Bible and could quote scripture in a heartbeat. Ray was a faithful member of Champion Life Church for many years, and when he was unable to attend in person, he remained committed and worshipped online.

The country boy married his city girl on October 6, 1964. To him, she was always his beautiful wife. A sign in their home read, "One beautiful person and an old goat live here," a perfect reflection of their humor and love. Together, they raised three children: Lisa, Michelle, and Bruce.

Throughout his life, Ray held many professions and ultimately retired as a delivery driver for Nabisco Foods.

Ray enjoyed football and often shared the story of how he was bumped up a grade to play on the varsity team in high school. He also loved hunting, fishing, and grilling. He cherished time with his family—especially his grandchildren. Grandpa attended countless dance recitals, soccer games, zoo trips, and many Disney World trips.

While his family will miss him greatly, we take comfort in knowing he is with his loving Savior and no longer in pain or suffering.

To our family, friends, church family, and the medical team who prayed for Dad, offered encouragement, and sent or cooked meals—we want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
